[In the mailbox is a simple bag of gingerbread men, with a simple ribbon of colorful fabric tying it all together. There's nothing special about the cookies or the bag, or the ribbon. It's just... gingerbread.]
[Don't like gingerbread? Well that's just too bad. There's no return address on these suckers.]
[Left in Yukio's mailbox is a painted card. The card smells of pine needles, snow and a fireplace, and features Papyrus, waving enthusiastically ahead. Somehow there's boneprint snowflakes faintly falling against the pale background. Along the header and footer, the card reads:]
HAPPY GYFTMAS (ON THE MOON) FROM PAPYRUS!!!
[Inside, a personal message continues:]
HELLO YUKIO, I HEAR THAT YOU'RE RIN'S BROTHER! WOW! DO YOU BOTH USE SWORDS AND FIRE AND ALL? HOPEFULLY NOT MUCH, AS SWORDS AREN'T THE BEST HEALING ITEMS IN THE WORLD... AND YOU'RE BUSY IN BEING A MEDIC. BUT THAT'S JUST HOW LIFE IN THE CARNIVAL GOES SOMETIMES. MEET YOU SOON, AND SEE YOU AROUND! BUT HOPEFULLY NOT WHEN YOU'RE TENDING TO ME. OR MY BROTHER.
/intensely googles how to write a letter in japanese
[The next day, a letter in Papyrus' mailbox. Undecorated paper, neatly folded and addressed and handwritten. It's polite, but short.]
Greetings, Papyrus-san Thank you for your letter. Unlike my brother, I use a gun. I am trained as a doctor, and hope to be useful in the medical tent. I hope you and your brother stay healthy this winter. Sincerely, Okumura.
[Later that day, another letter appears in response. It's equally undecorated, because Papyrus is following a strict 1 card per holiday per person policy.]
DEAR YUKIO OKUMURA, THANK YOU FOR THE WELL WISHES! I CAN'T DESCRIBE MY RELIEF KNOWING WE HAVE REAL TRAINED DOCTORS AGAIN. GOING WITHOUT WORRIED PEOPLE, EVEN IF NOBODY SAID SO. I HOPE YOU AND YOUR BROTHER STAY HEALTHY TOO!! AND PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT ME TO CALL YOU OKUMURA INSTEAD. IT'S OKAY! I'M ALREADY USED TO CALLING GONGENZAKA, GONGENZAKA. WHATEVER YOU PREFER!
[And now it's time to switch from formal letter format to casual notes format (or, as casual as Yukio ever gets).]
Where I am from, people are usually called by their family names. It is rare for those outside of close friends or family to call you by your given name. I understand that calling people by their given names is common in other places, but I still prefer to be called Okumura.
[Towards the end of the holiday, they will find a fancy looking gift box in his trailer with a note left on top. The handwriting is done in an over the top cursive that he might recognize as the Ringmaster's, written on aged papyrus with the ink seemingly made of shining gold.]
"Yukio-
I hope your stay lasts a bit longer this time!
The Ringmaster❧"
[Her signature is so massive and florid that it fills up the rest of the paper. When they open the box, they'll find a a magic gun. It doesn't shoot bullets, however - instead it shoots small magic bolts that will send most people to sleep if you hit them in the head with it.]
[Yukio probably doesn't need a note to figure out who left this shirt in his box, but there's one at the bottom of the bag the shirt's wrapped in, written on plain sheet of paper.]
Four-eyes-
Saw this and thought of you. When was the last time you wore a shirt without a collar, anyway? Shima said this would fit you, so if it's wrong blame him.
I'm rather busy. [He needs to practice more, he needs to get better. He's not good enough yet. He needs to keep practicing, he needs to manage the medical tent, he has too much on his plate to go to parties.]
No. I'm sorry. [Yukio's voice is quiet, subdued. He doesn't think he's ever going to be able to smile again an--
she doesn't deserve this. She's just being friendly, hoping to talk about something silly or make a joke and Yukio's just going to hurt her if he keeps talking but--]
[ It's been more than a couple of weeks since Shiemi's arrival and she has, for the most part, settled into something of a routine. Working with Yuki-chan at the clinic with Nee had seemed a good and obvious way to help everyone with their knowledge and ability and she's been glad to do so even though things have been rather calm and incident free.
If no one is hurt or injured, then things are in a certain very important way okay. At least, she thinks so, and actively as she pushes herself up from where she'd been napping nearby and begins to walk with Nee atop her shoulder back toward the clinic. There's a certain sort of okay she's come into some realization about as she's adjusted to being in this world, a sort of okay that's very abruptly shattered when several hundred Greenmen seem to flood in pouring from nothing mid-air on top of the unsuspecting Tamer.
There's a yelp of surprise, and with some volume as the green river continues to pour flow with Shiemi in tow toward the clinic. Is she even visible in there?? ]
Shiemi-san! [He yelps, because he'd heard the sudden... chattering of a literal pile of demons as they appeared out of absolutely nowhere, and there's really only one possible origin for every greenman in Gehenna suddenly showing up here.
He thinks he sees her, catching a glimpse of bright hair or bright fabric, and he grabs his bow in his hand as he tries to make his way towards her, knocking little demons out of the way.]
[ The sudden influx of Greenmen, for their part, are having the time of their lives, chattering happily in some sort of dissonant demonic equivalent of "WHEE". Even those struck by the bow seem all too happy to go sailing off through the air to... wherever it is they're going.
The good news is they're sort of rolling off her? Or rather, the odd pile that's lingering on top of her. That is definitely Shiemi's hand sticking out of the pile, grasping.
Unfortunately, she hasn't quite managed to pop her head out just yet, but at least the flow of demons seems to be ebbing sort of? A little help, please! ]

Does he eat the gingerbread men? Well, eventually.]

It comes with a handwritten note from Connie:
Happy Holidays! I love books, and I hope you do too!
If you don't like this particular one, maybe you'll find one more to your liking in at the Book Swap!
Included is a crude drawing of the cabin layout with a star pointing to where the book swap is located.

on the other hand, this shirt is honestly kind of hilarious and it's also really soft.
He'll wear it. As pajamas. In his trailer. Where no one can see.
IN RETURN, Shura gets this in pink with gold and pink lettering.]
