[He fights through the wave of greenmen as if this isn't the most absurd thing he's done this month, and reaches out to grab for Shiemi's hand and pull her out of the pile.]
[ Fortunately, the Greenmen, though great in number, are incredibly silly rather than any sort of malicious, so there's no active, willful resistance when Shiemi grips Yukio's hand and he goes to pull her out of the pile. She practically pops out, actually, and with a deep gasp of air, uncertain feet trying to find the ground because she's definitely lost a shoe and is a bit uneven. ]
Yuki-chan!
[ Maybe give her a second to catch her breath, but her shock is apparent. Nee's, too, as her familiar pops out of her hair. Wh-what...? All that chattering, it's... ]
[ She thinks so. That's what she was going to say. She intends to. She needs to. This isn't really the sort of situation where you leave a person to wonder, not when there are so very many demons involved even if they are friendly, but it's a certain realization that's pricked her consciousness and effectively distracted her. Her eyelashes flutter. Her cheeks start to tinge because Yuki-chan, he's... really close and really strong and r-really solid.
And that definition is that much harder to miss when she reaches to further steady herself and plants a hand on his chest. That's -- she should look up and answer, but her eyes are pretty firmly glued to his chest, cheeks flaring. ]
[ Except for the dull throbbing about that shoeless ankle that hasn't quite registered in the face of her shock at having been buried beneath a sudden outpouring of Greenmen from nothing and -- well, Yuki-chan's... muscles. ]
Good. [He says, and relaxes his hold on her as she steadies herself. She's close, and blushing, but right now Yukio is focused and professional and not thinking about any of that.]
We should move away from here, I don't know how safe this area is, or if more demons are going to show up.
[ She recognizes the tone. It's easy to focus on, to turn her attention on it, his words. A little bit of that pink lets up as she looks up and nods -- ]
Un.
[ -- and goes to straighten, to evenly set her weight between both feet.
That's when she feels it, a sharp pain in her ankle that sees her teeter and fall forward -- right into Yukio's chest. Pardon her grasping hand. ]
[ She admits it quietly, sheepishly, her tone tinged with concern as she turns her eyes down. She feels it now, that steady throb in the wake of that sharpness, and her ankle feels like it's... swelling? She takes a second to try to right herself again, test it, but -- ]
Aah!
[ -- she winces. She needs to be able to walk given their current situation, but -- ]
Hold on. [He says, and he doesn't mean "wait a second", he means "hold on to me", because he's bending slightly to scoop her up, one arm around her back and one under her knees, carrying her bridal-style.
It's easier than he expected, thankfully. He doesn't carry people a lot, but he should be able to get her back to the clinic without any trouble.]
[ "Hold on a minute" is what Shiemi thought Yukio meant and she had been prepared to do exactly that, looking from her ankle up at Yuki-chan who had been bending? She hadn't thought terribly much of that until the moment his arms connected with her back and under her knees and suddenly he's lifting her and -- and Shiemi doesn't know what to do because she's still not entirely sure what just happened.
Yuki-chan had told her to hold on. He meant hold on a minute, right? But that suddenly doesn't seem right at all and there's no helping the red that spreads from her cheeks across the bridge of her nose and threatens to travel up her ears. She can't quite find her voice, not that it makes much sense to argue, she thinks. She's fairly certain she can't walk that well. She can't even stand on that leg without it hurting badly and Yuki-chan -- she doesn't want to inconvenience him, but Yuki-chan... actually looks really very handsome from this angle and she doesn't rightly realize the sort of smile quietly spreading across her face.
Nee seems to notice something. He's climbed to ride atop Shiemi's shoulder and poses a questioning nee. Is Shiemi okay?? ]
[He isn't looking at her, or thinking about that right now. He's mostly trying not to step on any greenmen or twist his own ankles as they make their way back to the clinic.
And not knock Nee off by accident. He's sure Shiemi could recognize her own greenman in the mess, and that Nee would recognize her, but that would just be inconvenient.]
Are you sure it's just your ankle, Shiemi-san? Does it hurt anywhere else?
[ That shakes her out of it sort of. Did Yuki-chan see her staring like that? She needs to answer him, though. She pauses a moment, thinking, then shakes her head as she reaches to give Nee a reassuring little pat atop its head with a finger. ]
I don't think so. I-I wouldn't be surprised if I bruised a little, I think.
[ Considering the sheer number of the little demons that had poured on top of her, that is. Individually, they don't weigh terribly much. Nee is light at its normal size, but several hundred of Nee-chan's friends and family coming down hard and fast on top of her is another story. But come to think of it -- ]
I wonder where they all came from?
[ Yuki-chan had said things happen on the islands, but something like this...? ]
All right. I'll check you over more thoroughly once we're inside. [Which they almost are.
Once they're inside, Yukio kicks the door closed, and then sets Shiemi down on a stool.]
Let me see your ankle. [He says, grabbing a first aid kit and kneeling down in front of her.
Shoes and socks off first, both of them, so he can check for swelling and bruising in comparison. After he checks for swelling, there are checks for sensation and movement to go through as well.]
[ Shiemi feels a bit guilty that the first injury they'd have to treat in a while would be hers. Her ankle is a little stiff, the pain oddly sharp despite that the swelling is more on the slight side of things for all that it doesn't feel it. It's tempting to shrink with contact, but she does her utmost best to stay still while being honest about it.
Yuki-chan is doing his best, so she has to be strong and do her best, too!
But it definitely hurts. She balls her fists into her kimono and watches Yukio quietly with a determined expression on her face and, after a minute or two... ]
[He's careful, noting pain and tenderness and the way her ankle moves. At her question, he shakes his head, with a calm smile.]
It doesn't look very bad. It looks like it's sprained, and some of the ligaments are torn. My magic should be able to get you walking again without too much pain.
[He holds her ankle still, and focuses the healing magic. Once, twice, three times (which means he's out of magic for the day, but that isn't important). It's not completely healed, but 30% of the way is better than nothing.
He checks it again, and nods.]
I'll wrap it for stability, and you will need to be careful with it for a while, but if I heal you every day it should be back to normal in a week.
[ She watches Yukio with wide eyes, her expression softening a little. It isn't the first time he's used his healing magic on her, but it's still surprising in a way, a pleasantly warm situation that spreads through skin and bone and dulls the dull, pulsing ache that had seemed prepared to begin again. ]
I'm sorry, Yuki-chan. It seems like I keep winding up getting into trouble like this.
[ Twice injured since her arrival and supplies aren't exactly plentiful either. ]
I... don't guess there's a lot I could've done to help it this time, but I'll try to be more careful from now on.
[ She doesn't want to worry Yukio, after all, and she can't exactly help the Storyteller if she can't walk anywhere. Nee chatters, leaning over to observe Yukio closely. ]
[ Sorry, Yukio. Were you thinking about how much you didn't want a tiny greenman jumping on you right now? Because Nee has this fantastic idea that he can definitely make the gap and jump onto Yukio's shoulder and he is just going for it before Shiemi can get that first word out. ]
N-Nee-chan!
[ But she's a little too late to properly grab him and Nee is going to... hug Yukio's shoulder? Leaving Shiemi in temporary shock at this bold move. Um?? ]
The little greenman is all too happy as he continues, for the moment, to hug Yukio's shoulder. Give him a moment and he's going to scale it like the mountain it practically is to him.
Shiemi, meanwhile, is covering her mouth after Yuki-chan's question. Or rather uncapping it with an easy exhale. ]
I-it seems like he wants your attention? He's very happy to see you, I think.
[He keeps that hand up, just in case Nee needs something else for support (Yukio doesn't have long hair for the greenman to cling to).]
Well, Nee, what can I do for you? [Yukio asks, with a smile for the little demon. It's... unusual. He doesn't have a lot of peaceful interactions with familiars (other than Kuro, who isn't a familiar as much as he is a demon who decided to stick around).]
[ Are human bodies a bit unwieldy for a small greenman to stand on? They are and Yukio's is different than Shiemi's, but he's managing to keep his balance pretty well, raising his tiny arms with all the enthusiasm his little body can convey as he replies excitedly.
"Nee, nee! Nee! Nee?"
There is a question there at the end.
Shiemi can't quite help a soft smile as she regards the two, wondering at Yuki-chan addressing Nee directly. ]
