[It's a day into Cordis, and while Ranpo's been busy with moving into his new house with Atsushi, there's someone he needs to pay a visit.]
[Well, and also bring over a bunch of food, because he knows how Cordis is. And from the lingering memories of their journey to the future, he knows how Yukio is. Man cannot live on energy bars alone.]
[It's not too hard to figure out where he's living, and so here he is, a cat boy knocking on Yukio's door with a big bag of snacks and take out.]
[Yukio doesn't have any idea who's going to be knocking on his door. Not Rin, because Rin would text him first.
So he opens it and blinks for a second, caught completely off-guard.]
Oh, Ranpo-san. [This is weird, made weirder by how normal it feels.]
Come in? [Because that feels right. Yukio is very much overwhelmed by Cordis right now, which for him always means (or did mean, in that future) he's feeling extremely driven to just stay at home and do nothing but cuddle and snack, preferably in a pile of blankets.
He's not dressed properly for visitors, pyjama pants and an oversized sweatshirt, hair that hasn't been brushed since Cordis started.]
I'm sorry, [He drags a hand though his hair like that's going to fix it.] I wasn't expecting visitors.
Don't mind if I do, Yukio-kun! And please-- I figured you wouldn't.
[This subtle burn tho--]
But that's all the more reason I wanted to stop by! I know how tough cordis can be when you're new and don't know a lot of people yet. And if you're not moonlacing, you'll have to eat a lot to compensate! So I brought lunch, and some things for the next few days!
[--"things" being gift cards for food delivery, because Ranpo is here too, and this bag of food will last a few hours tops.]
It has been tough, so far. [He just wants to stay in bed? And eat snacks? In bed???? He wants to hug people? He cried on Rin's shoulder??? It's all bad.]
Thank you for the help. I've been able to moonlace with my brother, but I didn't get the chance to really get to know anyone else here before Cordis started. [And obviously, just the handholding and hugging level of moonlacing.] So my funds are lower than I would like.
You don't have to thank me! What are future-friends for?
[Weird that this is technically their first time meeting -- and yet it doesn't really feel that way at all, for all that they don't remember too much about each other anymore. But that's fine. It's hardly a roadblock as far as Ranpo is concerned.]
But say-- if you need help moonlacing, we could cuddle while we eat? Maybe we can play a game or something to actually get to know each other for real!
[He gestures at the couch for them to sit as he starts pulling out the food (sorry it's fast food), and won't hesitate to cuddle up right next to Yukio. He's briefly considers stretching across his lap, but-- well, maybe later.]
[But more importantly-- he purrs the moment he's sitting down.]
Hmm, how about two truths and a lie? That's always a fun one!
Ah, but depending on how much you remember about me-- it might not be a very fair one.
[Ranpo Edogawa. Master detective.]
[Something something special ability to see the truth maybe?? Probably vague.]
[ It's early in the morning when she sits down with a fresh pot of tea, the remnants of a day long headache, and her device and turns her eyes on a certain text conversation she'd assumed to have been a simple case of mistaken identity earlier in the week.
At the time, it had been. She didn't, hadn't recognized that name she now knows to be hers, nor had she recognized the inquiring screen name for what it is to her now, more than a year older with eight inches more hair to show for it. More than a screen name, it's the name of an important person to her, a person... she'd come to hate during that period before she'd known, been able to remember because time had... caught up to her?
He'd been in such a state when she'd bumped into him on the street and she'd only made it worse. She'd hurt him, hated him, cursed him with every intention of bringing him to his knees, and she can only imagine how he felt, feels now. She's sure he's remembered, asking after her like that.
The tea sits untouched in the pot as she stares beyond that question from so many days ago, that polite apology. She sits quietly for a while before she picks her device up. ]
Yukio-chan.
[ There's no question. She should type more, she thinks, but she sees so many different expressions on his face behind her eyes and her heart aches. ]
[The username gets his attention, because that's Setsura, but it isn't, because he already asked and she didn't remember.
Except. The actual content of that text.
And he remembered, and Shiemi remembered, and so maybe, maybe.]
Light-san? Did you remember something?
[He wants to hope. He wants so much for this to be the person he remembers. It has to be, logically he knows that, but... it's so hard to try to hope.]
There he is. She knew he would be. Yukio keeps his schedule, after all, and that address, that question -- she smiles such a small smile, but it's hard to sustain. ]
Lots of somethings. It looks like you remembered ahead of me, hm?
[ He wants to see her...? She wants to see him, look him over. How is he? She didn't cause him any lasting damage, did she? She didn't hold back at that time and he... didn't pause between those questions just now. ]
A room in the dorms. I'll send you directions.
[ She's already preparing to push herself up to go to the door. ]
[They must have just narrowly kept missing each other. It's lucky, he doesn't know what he would have done if he'd seen her before he remembered, doesn't know what he would have done if they'd met up when he was the only one who remembered.]
Which room are you in? I'll come over, if that's all right.
[ She sends him directions to the room and heads to the door without a second thought. She needs to stand, to move her feet, because there's too much energy brewing in them and her to continue sitting in that moment, not that she would have had the option because there's knocking on her door in short order.
She's there, opening it in the next instant. She blinks wordlessly up at him and she's stepping forward, into him, throwing her arms around that taller than her boy, and tightly. ]
[She's there. She's right there, and it's her and he thought he'd never--
She throws her arms around him, holds him tight and he gasps, because it hurts. Not physically, not because of any bruises or broken bones, but because he'd lost her already, he'd accepted that loss, buried it in his heart right next to--
He grabs her, holds tight, as tight as he can because he knows he doesn't have to worry about hurting her. She's here. She's here, and she remembers him, and for a second maybe he can think it's okay.]
[ It's maybe a good two hours into Yukio's morning routine that Shiemi manages to wait to send this particular message. That had been the recommendation she'd received, after all, and she'd tried to abide by it and not text her source unduly.
Two hours is a good amount of time, isn't it? It's a decent hour in the morning.
It takes her another half hour to settle on her wording. ]
[He shouldn't be surprised by this. But somehow, he is. He's surprised and blushing, because that's not... not just a girl contacting him on Valentine's Day (girls always do that), but it's... it's Shiemi. It's his girlfriend.]
[ It's in the late afternoon that Setsura decides to make the call. She'd spoken with Shiemi a few hours earlier, asked how Yukio was doing today. She hadn't let on that there was any special reason for the question. There's no sense in worrying the girl, who is likely unaware that Yukio is under a Morinath contract.
Yukio wouldn't want her worried either.
Setsura glances up as the breeze quickens and the branches in the bough overhead sway, blowing loose strands about. The device is ringing. ]
Setsura-san? [Yukio picks up after a few rings. He's in his room, which is still in the process of coming together. It's absolutely a nerd's room, he's sitting at his desk, a book closed in front of him with a notebook next to it. Yukio's note taking strategy? Organized. His handwriting? Terrible.]
[ And immediately her eyes are returned to the screen, after which a smile tugs at her mouth momentarily. He looks okay and his room is... well, it's not unsurprising. ]
Early Cordis
[Well, and also bring over a bunch of food, because he knows how Cordis is. And from the lingering memories of their journey to the future, he knows how Yukio is. Man cannot live on energy bars alone.]

Yukio's own purr starts up in response to Ranpo's. A feedback loop of purring.
But Yukio isn't entirely comfortable, not yet, and he's sitting slightly stiffly on the couch.]
