There are no suspects at the moment as there is no proveable crime. I simply wish for the scene to be preserved in case it ends up being relevant.

We might not have a body yet, but it's possible to proceed with investigations without one. I don't think it's wise to operate under any illusions of this being an innocent situation.

I would say we need to consider motive, but with how unusual this situation is, we can't rely on something that simple. It could be possession, or a message from whoever brought us here that was only given to one person.

Given that it seems few people had managed to speak with Mr Pontmercy at length, I do agree that any motive likely came from an outside source.

That is, unless it was an act done indiscriminately.
